Real Magic in Melbourne at Piccolo Teatro!

Finally the day has come!

This past weekend we opened the doors to the Piccolo Teatro Magic Theatre in the heart of Melbourne!

It has been a lot of work, but it is immensely rewarding to finally get to the day of opening the doors and welcoming people to enjoy the spirit, the charm and the real magic of a little bespoke theatre in the heart of Melbourne, that has been a labour of love and the realisation of a vision!

Situated halfway down Rankins lane off Little Bourke St, Piccolo Teatro was the vision of Melbourne magician Sam Angelico and through a series of serendipitous and resounding beats of butterfly wings and ripples in time and space, it came to be that my partner, Julia Madotti and I were brought in to the little secret and partnership of creating a magic theatre in Melbourne. It has been no small task to build a theatre out of a late 19th century two-level red brick warehouse building that has it own unique history, quirks and charm. Preserving as much of that character whilst making it a functional theatre has been a rewarding experience. I have literally built this theatre, all of the building of the theatre, I did myself ( a lot of sweat, a little bit of blood & no tears, but a lot of swearing ), putting in well over 300 hours of work over the last 3 months, and it has been a privilege and an honour, as it will be to share it and the performances it will house to the people of Melbourne and visitors from around the world.

It is a thing of beauty, created to present things of beauty, mystery and theatrical poetry. I hope you will come and experience and share with me the magic of the Piccolo Teatro - Magic Theatre... At the moment, 2 shows on Friday & Saturday nights, with more to come!
